5th grade parent tip

For the month of January, we are encouraging you all to take advantage of at-home reading! The weather is chilly and the month is slow. Cozy up with a good book with your child :) Even in 5th grade, students enjoy reading with their parents. At this stage, having students read to you or taking turns is best. Practicing reading aloud with expression can help with fluency and understanding, and even verbal speaking skills later on in school/life. A few of our favorite books this year are: The One and Only Ivan, Hatchet, and Because of Mr. Terupt. Enjoy, have fun, and step into a great read!!
